CIO Elliott Shore to leave Bryn Mawr

Posted September 18th, 2012 at 1:11 pm.

In January 2013, Elliott Shore, Chief Information Officer and the Constance Adelaide Jones Director of Libraries and Professor of History, will begin a five-year, full-time position as the Executive Director of the Association of Research Libraries (ARL).

Elliott’s appointment to the leadership of this organization is a significant professional recognition of him and, by extension, of Bryn Mawr’s stature in the world of academic libraries, especially those that have markedly advanced the integration of digital and print resources. Elliott is nationally known and respected for his work at the intersection of technology and information services and his expertise and experience in this work will be of great benefit to ARL.

As Chief Information Officer, Elliott led Information Services through an era of unparalleled change and innovation and has played an instrumental role in making the Tri-Co library system a national model for collaboration.  While we feel institutional pride in Elliott’s appointment to this prestigious position at ARL, we also recognize that his departure will be a genuine loss for the College.  We wish him the best of luck and thank him for his many years of service and leadership.

Elliott has attracted dedicated and talented people to Information Services who will assure a smooth transition until his successor is appointed. To this end, we are pleased to announce that, in January, Eric Pumroy, Director of Library Collections, will assume the responsibilities of Interim Chief Information Officer.
