Canaday to Open New Technology-enhanced Instruction Space for Fall

Posted June 10th, 2015 at 3:39 pm.

On Monday, June 15, renovations will begin to Canaday 315, formerly known as the Language Learning Center (LLC). The renovation project will last most of the summer. The space will be unavailable for use until late August.

The renovations represent a major reconfiguration and reconceptualization of the space. Changes will include a new glass wall at the entrance, and the bookshelves and divider wall currently in the room will be removed to create a single uninterrupted space. The room will house 24 computer workstations for students, plus an instructor’s workstation. The student workstations will be arranged in groups of three with each group sharing a generously sized horseshoe-shaped table. The tables will feature a large digital display which will can be used to display the instructor’s computer or any of the three computers at the table.

In addition to the physical changes there will be use changes. The room will serve all of the College’s academic programs, and will be available to the Registrar for fall course scheduling, as well as for individual instruction sessions.  The room will be open for student use when class sessions are not taking place.
