Office 365: Clutter learns from your behavior & sets aside lower priority messages

Posted September 19th, 2016 at 3:03 pm.

What is Clutter?

Clutter is a feature of Office 365 that reduces the amount of email landing in your inbox by moving lower-priority messages to the Clutter folder for later/less frequent review.

How do Clutter and Junk filters work?

  1. Messages Office 365 believes are spam are filtered into your Junk folder.
  2. Office 365 processes any Rules you’ve set up.
  3. Based on your past behavior, Clutter sets aside the types of messages that you usually ignore or don’t respond to.

A few ways to work with (and without) Clutter:

  • Keep using your email – as your reading habits change, Clutter learns and adapts.
  • Turn it off if you don’t find it helpful.
  • Use Rules to make sure certain messages always land in your inbox, or even get pinned to the top! (click the links for quick how-to videos).
