3:40pm Our network engineers have been monitoring and now feel we have achieved a stable state and further interruptions are unlikely.
Update: We’d like to thank our community for their patience as we and our TriCo colleagues have worked to resolve this situation. As of approximately 1:30pm, internet connectivity has been restored, however the cause is not yet known and it is possible issues will recur. We will update you if anything changes.
If you are still having trouble reaching some or all sites, try restarting your computer or device. If problems persist, please report them right away to the Help Desk (610-526-7440, email@example.com, http://lits.brynmawr.edu)
There is currently a known issue with internet connectivity here at Bryn Mawr and throughout the TriCo.
Normally, we have 2 connections to the Internet and 1 to the Internet2 research network. At this time, the connection to the I2 research network is unavailable and we are running on only 1 of our 2 connections to the Internet. Our internet connectivity is part of loop shared with Swarthmore and Haverford and the three colleges have shared responsibility for maintaining these connections.
While service is available, it can take time for computers and devices to catch up and connections may continue to be slow. Be patient. If you are having trouble reaching a site, try a few times as the DNS cache will need to learn a new route.
At this time we are unable to provide an expected time of resolution; the equipment experiencing issues appears to be one of Swarthmore’s components and Swarthmore admins are working to address this as we write.
