macOS Sierra Update Beginning Today 10/4

Posted October 4th, 2016 at 2:33 pm.

As of today (previously unannounced), Apple has begun pushing macOS Sierra updates. The software will download automatically, but community members will still need to manually allow the update to be installed. We expect that if you choose not to install Sierra, your computer will prompt you to do so persistently. There is no reasonable path for LITS to prevent this on College-owned computers.

We recommend caution in upgrading to Sierra. Be sure you have a good backup for all data.

You will want to get in touch with us before upgrading if:

  • You are using older software
  • You have concerns about specialty software and/or things connected to your computer
