How is sound connected to social, cultural, and political life? And how can we use sound to document and tell stories about social, cultural, and political phenomena?
In this talk, Amy Weidman (Anthropology) will provide an overview of how a new course, Waves of Power: The Anthropology and Cultural Politics of Sound, offered for the first time in Fall 2016, addressed these questions. The talk will feature student sound pieces and podcasts created during the semester, with students Dylan Hoffman ’19 and Maren Davidson Skarstad ’19 discussing the processes of recording and editing they went through to create these pieces.
