We are in this together! File Action Day is July 18

The Information Security Council (ISC) is sponsoring its second campus-wide event, File Action Day, from 10am until noon on Tuesday, July 18, 2017. Mark your calendar now.

The focus of File Action Day is safeguarding sensitive College information located in your e-mail and in file folders on the S:drive. Use this block of time on July 18 to identify and assure safe storage of personal information that has been entrusted to you. Lessons learned from File Action Day will increase your cyber-awareness and benefit both you and the College. Action goals include:

  • Identifying and raising awareness of “risky records”
  • Deleting or destroying records not necessary for ongoing business
  • Moving business-essential records to a safer location
  • Reinforcing data-security practices and file maintenance
  • Providing tips to improve workflow

HELP IS AVAILABLE!

Digital File Maintenance

  • Do you want more information about risky files? The LITS website has quick-guides and tips to help you identify and secure files with sensitive information.
  • Are shared file folders too much to tackle alone? Coordinate with co-workers who access your shared files for a July 18 action plan.
  • Does your department need a bit extra help on July 18? Submit a request to the Help Desk as soon as possible for LITS consulting assistance.

Paper File Maintenance

  • Are you storing outdated paper files with sensitive data? Housekeeping can pick up boxed papers for shredding. Please submit a work order to Facilities Services.
