Students Enroll in Duo (multi-factor authentication) by 2/4 – Important Info for International Travel

Posted December 14th, 2018 at 3:35 pm.

The deadline for students to enroll in Duo for multi-factor authentication to College systems is February 4, 2019.  Students who have not enrolled by February 4th will be prompted to enroll when they go to log into a Duo-protected resource (email, Bionic, etc.) and will have to enroll in order to proceed with their log in.

Important info for studying abroad second semester:

Some factors of being abroad could complicate the enrollment process (as well as the authentication process for those already enrolled). LITS recommends enrolling in Duo before you leave the country, installing the Duo app on a smartphone, and using Duo push to authenticate.

  • Duo push works anywhere you have a wifi connection, and the Duo app can also be used to generate passcodes.
  • If you’re already using Duo and have enrolled your phone number for calls and/or text messages, you may experience issues if you don’t have an international phone plan.
  • Security Tokens (request in advance of travel) will work internationally with no issues.
