Update on Library Services for Summer 2020

Posted June 19th, 2020 at 9:12 am.

We are pleased to announce that we will soon be offering on-demand scanning services and curbside pickup of books from the Bryn Mawr circulating library collections to students, faculty and staff. While the library buildings will remain closed, requests for print books may be made beginning June 29, with contactless pickup at Canaday Library beginning the week of July 6. Requests for scans of printed material in the Bryn Mawr libraries (journal articles, book chapters, and non-circulating volumes) may be made through the regular interlibrary loan request form starting June 29, with electronic delivery as soon as materials are scanned.

Please visit this webpage, which will be updated soon with information about how to request scans of journal articles and book chapters, and how to request and pick up books. We recommend you bookmark this link, as it will be the quickest and most efficient way for us to communicate with library patrons as our services evolve; you will also find it on the LITS homepage. Please be patient as we work out how best to provide these services. The amount of a book that we can scan may be limited by copyright considerations, and we may be unable to recall books that are checked out. You may be offered a digital copy of an item you request in print. In all cases we’ll do our best to get you the material you request. As we begin this service, materials in the Haverford and Swarthmore Libraries will not be available, but we expect to resume some level of Trico circulation over the course of the summer.

For materials we do not own, interlibrary loan is up and running. Almost all fulfillment of ILL requests is now digital, but as libraries reopen, physical lending may resume this summer. We do not expect E-Z Borrow to be available before the fall.

The Special Collections Department expects to open to students, faculty and staff beginning in mid-July.  Collections will only be available by appointment.  To schedule an appointment or to request research help, please contact speccoll@brynmawr.edu.

We encourage you to continue visiting the Library Resources during COVID-19 webpage for links to electronic resources that are not available through Tripod. Please contact library@brynmawr.edu with research questions of any kind, and if you have questions about your library account, please contact circulation@brynmawr.edu.
