Gathering Feedback for Phone System Replacement

LITS is pleased to announce that we’re busy laying initial groundwork to replace the College’s 25+ year-old telephone system (yes, this includes voicemail!)

We’re excited to involve the campus community early on in this process! We welcome questions and comments at any time. Want to chat in person? Do join us at one of two community forums in the Special Collections Seminar Room (Canaday 2nd floor):

  • Thursday, March 2nd from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m.
  • Monday, March 5th from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.

No direct replacement for our current system exists; apples will need to be replaced with pineapples (and possibly a banana or kiwi as well). Replacing the College’s telephone system could involve substantial change. New technologies offer opportunities for improved and expanded services that are not possible with our current system.

As we research the contemporary telephone landscape and financing options, we need to understand the community’s functional requirements. At the end of this phase (May 2017), our cross-departmental project team (thanks, Finance, Facilities and Campus Safety!) will deliver a set of options to senior staff for decision-making. Then we’ll proceed towards procuring and implementing a new system.

We’ll also be scheduling focused discussions with departments who rely on call center functionality, complex call coverage arrangements, or who have many frequent travelers. Does this sound like you? Get in touch!
