Scheduled Maintenance: Bryn Mawr Blogs Migration to Cloud Hosting on July 7, 2026

On Tuesday, July 7, 2026, Bryn Mawr Blogs (blogs.brynmawr.edu) will be migrated from on-premises hosting to cloud hosting. This migration will improve the long-term sustainability, reliability, and maintainability of the platform.

As part of this migration, there will be a scheduled content freeze and service disruption from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (EST) on July 7, 2026.

During this maintenance window:

    • Blog editing and login will be temporarily disabled.
    • Any users logged in at 12:00 p.m. will be automatically logged out.
    • Access to the platform will be unavailable while migration is in progress.

Action Required:
Please save any drafts or unpublished work before 12:00 p.m. on July 7, 2026 to avoid losing unsaved changes.

Once the migration is complete, login behavior will change for users. Please see our login documentation for users:

Note: The new login described takes effect on July 7th after the migration.

After migration is complete and service has been restored, some users may need to clear their browser’s cache if they experience login issues or unexpected behavior when accessing Blogs. If issues persist after clearing your browser’s cache, or if you have questions about the new login process, please contact help@brynmawr.edu with Attention: Web Services.

Thank you for your patience and support as we improve Bryn Mawr Blogs.

Action required: Drupal accounts unavailable Tuesday, 1/14, 6:30-8:00AM

As part of the website redesign led by College Communications and Web Services, Drupal users will not be able to log in from 6:30am – 8:00am on Tuesday, 1/14, as Web Services applies updates. Please be advised that this only affects Drupal account holders and not access to College websites or other College accounts.

Prior to the update period, please save your work and log out. If you are logged in with unsaved drafts, you may lose work during the update period.

Additionally, you may want to clear your web browser cache after the updates. Instructions on how to do that can be found in this Wiki How article.

Starting in February 2024, Web Services will engage in a new approach to Drupal training for new users. Bryn Mawr community members who request access must first be approved by the section admin for the area of the website in which they are looking to author content. Upon approval, the requestor will be required to attend Drupal New User Training. These training sessions are offered on a monthly basis, on the third week of each month. Registration is required to attend the training. Access to author content in Drupal is granted at the time of the training session. Training sessions will be administered remotely via Zoom for ease of access.  Click here to see all upcoming Drupal New User Trainings.

In addition to Drupal New User Training, Web Services partners with Communications to offer a monthly Drupal Drop-In session which explores various tools that content authors can use to elevate important content on their pages. Click here to see all upcoming Drupal Drop-Ins.

Bryn Mawr Blogs and Comment Spam: Change to WordPress Settings

To reduce comment spam, LITS has updated all blogs on Bryn Mawr Blogs to require users to be registered and logged in in order to comment on a page or post.
If you are a blog administrator and your target audience contains a large amount of users that have non-BMC or non-TriCo emails, this setting can be changed to allow anonymous users to comment on your blog. Please understand that this will make your blog susceptible to comment spam and you may start to see a large influx of comment notifications in your email inbox.
To learn more about comment moderation and allowing anonymous users to comment on your blogs, please see our Bryn Mawr Blogs comment documentation in Ask Athena.
Please contact the Help Desk with any questions or concerns: help@brynmawr.edu or 610-526-7440
