RESOLVED: Duo: Authentication via phone call and SMS unavailable

Update, Friday 2/14: Duo reports that this issue is resolved and all methods of communication are operational.

Today, Duo identified an issue where authentication via phone call or SMS/text messages is failing. Until the issue is resolved, community members will need to authenticate via Duo Mobile Push, passcodes from the Duo Mobile App, or security/hardware tokens.

Please remember that LITS will never ask you to initiate a Duo Push or to send us a passcode/SMS message. You should only approve Duo authentication requests that you initiated yourself. It never hurts to decline a Duo request if you’re unsure.

We will update here as more information becomes available. If you have any questions, please contact the Help Desk: 610-526-7440 or help@brynmawr.edu.

Reminder: Switch to New College VPN Service before Monday, 2/17

As we all prepare for potential inclement weather coming this week, LITS wants to send a quick reminder to switch your VPN service provider from Ivanti to Palo Alto GlobalConnect before Ivanti is taken offline on Monday, 2/17.

Please get in touch with the Help Desk (help@brynmawr.edu; 610-526-7440) if you need assistance or have questions.

Bryn Mawr College is moving to a new VPN service: Palo Alto GlobalProtect! You can find instructions on Ask Athena for uninstalling Ivanti and installing Palo Alto GlobalProtect. Please install the new VPN before our current VPN, Ivanti, is deprecated on Monday, February 17th.

If your work relies on the VPN, such as accessing network drives (H:, S:, etc.) from off-campus, LITS highly recommends installing Palo Alto GlobalProtect at your earliest convenience.

For questions or help with Palo Alto GlobalProtect, please contact the Help Desk at help@brynmawr.edu or 610-526-7440.

Intermittent Issues with Composing or Replying to Emails

Recently, community members have reported intermittent issues when trying to compose or reply to emails. This issue happens across all browsers and, for many, can be temporarily resolved by logging out of email completely or switching to a new web browser.

This issue is being reported by Microsoft customers worldwide and, as of now, there is no resolution.

Please note that these issues are only reported as happening with webmail and not with the desktop version of Outlook. Please visit Ask Athena for instructions on setting up an Outlook client.

If you need help with this setup, or if you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Help Desk: 610-526-7440 or help@brynmawr.edu.

POSTPONED: College login page update

LITS will be postponing the College login page update. We’ll send out an announcement with the new date as soon as we know it. Please feel free to reach out to the Help Desk at help@brynmawr.edu or 610-526-7440 if you have any questions!

LITS will be implementing a minor security update to the main Bryn Mawr College account login page on Monday, 2/10, at 8am EST. There is no action required on your part. Functionality will remain the same, with the addition of a new page between entering your password and the Duo prompt (pictured below).

Note: In the rare case that you’ve set up Microsoft Authenticator in addition to Duo, you will no longer be prompted to use Microsoft Authenticator to access certain Microsoft account webpages.

Please reach out to the Help Desk at help@brynmawr.edu or 610-526-7440 with any questions.

Update: Fix to Zoom Scheduler Applied

LITS has implemented a fix to Zoom Scheduler that will allow users to reschedule a meeting without encountering broken links. As a reminder, this fix will only apply to meetings that were scheduled after the fix was applied. Meetings scheduled before today will still have broken links for rescheduling. Please email help@brynmawr.edu if you have any questions.

Urgent Wireless Upgrade Tomorrow (1/15) starting at 8am

LITS will be making an urgent security update to our campus wireless network tomorrow 1/15 starting around 8am.

Community members who are on campus may experience a 5-10 minute wireless outage. These outages will be on a rolling basis as each wireless access point is updated. Thank you for your patience as we complete this important work.

Please contact the Help Desk with questions: help@brynmawr.edu or 610-526-7440.

Action required: Drupal accounts unavailable Tuesday, 1/14, 6:30-8:00AM

As part of the website redesign led by College Communications and Web Services, Drupal users will not be able to log in from 6:30am – 8:00am on Tuesday, 1/14, as Web Services applies updates. Please be advised that this only affects Drupal account holders and not access to College websites or other College accounts.

Prior to the update period, please save your work and log out. If you are logged in with unsaved drafts, you may lose work during the update period.

Additionally, you may want to clear your web browser cache after the updates. Instructions on how to do that can be found in this Wiki How article.
